Assessing Survival Needs: food, clothing, shelter (Maslow's hierarchy)
Psychological first aid -- building trust and offering reassurance, crisis intervention, brief supportive counseling, opportunity for venting feelings about the disaster, helping children cope
Assistance in shelters-- assessing needs, locating resources, educating Red Cross volunteers, advocating for needs of deaf people (I.e., interpreters, TTYs, visual announcements)
