Captioning

TAP has completed two studies related to captioning: A consumer-opinion study on caption features preferred for showing background music, speaker identification, sound effects, and other elements of the sound track; and a survey of teachers on use of captioned video in classrooms with deaf and hard of hearing children.

The Department of Communication Studies also offers an undergraduate course that covers captioning history, policy, technology, research and advocacy. This page links to information on those research and teaching activities, and to a wealth of information on captioning available on other sites.
