Re: Consumer Contact List - Section 255 complaint
Date: January 6, 2004
The item below is an order from the FCC dismissing Bonnie O'Day's case against Audiovox. O'Day and
Audiovox, through their counsel, negotiated a settlement to produce a phone that meets some of O'Day's
demands for access by blind and visually impaired people. The settlement is not on file at the FCC; nor does the FCC know its
full contents. However, O'Day agreed to dismiss the case against Audiovox based on Audiovox's actions.
O'Day's Section 255 formal complaint against Verizon Wireless for its failure to provide a phone that is
accessible to blind and visually impaired persons is still ongoing.
DR. BONNIE O'DAY V. AUDIOVOX COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION. Granted a joint motion to dismiss with prejudice the
formal complaint filed by O'Day and Audiovox and terminated the proceeding. Action by: Chief, Telecommunications
Consumers Division, Enforcement Bureau. Adopted: 12/30/2003 by ORDER. (DA No. 03-4116). EB
