• Does not require ongoing expenditure of $$ by different companies

• Sends location information, same as hearing

• Coverage, same as hearing

• 9-1-1 centers -- no change

• Direct communication with 9-1-1 center

• Could also make TTY calls to anyone directly

• Relatively short-term solution?

Disadvantages

• Unfamiliar to users at first?

• May be hidden technical issues that make it difficult for manufacturers -- no policy mechanism to reimburse them

• Will other solutions arrive first?
