Emergency telecommunications

This is the final video in an 8-part video series on telecommunications for hearing device users. Each of the videos is captioned. If the captions are not visible when you start the video, click on the Closed Caption (CC) icon.

Safety is a primary concern for many people with hearing loss. In emergency situations, contacting 911 can be anxiety producing, even without a hearing loss. When you struggle with listening on the phone, this situation can be even more challenging. Steps are being taken to work toward text-to-911 services. Having more information about contacting 911 using a captioned phone or by using a text message is a good resource, especially since you can't practice calling 911.
