TTY is the current technology for
direct 9-1-1 accessibility

• Fading from use in the deaf community

• Many have a TTY ONLY for contact with 9-1-1

• But no other text technology exists on plain old telephone network OR Voice over IP services

  • So it still must be supported along with POTs

  • But it’s not enough
